The following report is from Carolyn Hayden & Jo Marie Paintin...
FRAC Members:
The 4th of July agility match went very well - we had a great summer day (even some clouds in the afternoon to cool off), there was plenty of volunteers to help, we all had a GOOD time, and we cooled off more than once w/a stash of ice cream stocked for the workers! Treasurer's report - We brought in $186 at the Laramie Demo. The expenses were $68.51. Our profit was $117.49.
First and loudest barking and tail wagging THANKS go to Hale Landis and Megan McNerney for offering to tow the club's trailer via tag-team to Laramie! Hale wired his truck in order to tow it from Sheila's to Megan's, and Megan had to get through several presentations and exams for grad school before towing it to Laramie Weds. night. More THANKS go to the whole Paintin family (3 generations) who not only brought their mobile home and manned the busy registration table throughout long hot day (w/o getting grouchy), kept the ice cream frozen for us, and helped me organize and run FRAC's 3rd annual event for our first time! Also THANKS to - Penny Boysen for transporting and helping me wash agility equipment borrowed from our agility class, along w/loaning a tunnel and table for use on the courses; Mike and Laurie Roylance for loaning their tire jump and teeter; Penny Weir and her son George for transporting the same teeter, tire, and water coolers from the Roylance's house to! and from the park; and Martie Faulk for volunteering to supervise/instruct our practice area for beginner dogs/handlers as soon as she arrived and non-stop for most of the day
We offered 4 different courses, built by reversing each Novice and Advanced course once so it took very little time to change courses, and allowed people to run courses more than once. The courses were hybrids based on a recent NADAC trial course, Elite level - with 2 tires and a table replacing jumps (thanks to our chief course builder, Megan). for variety and better visuals for all the spectators! Penny Boysen designed the fun 15 obstacle Novice course (based on the Elite course) for handlers to enjoy running their novice dogs and some experienced dogs too. . Folks got to try agility w/their beginning dogs through a tunnel and 6 weave poles, and over 2 jumps and our "low rider" teeter, set at a 4" height! Several beginners stayed around for a 1/2 hour (or longer) introducing their dogs to agility with Martie's supervision and guidance. James and Jo Marie improvised (w/o magnets) and tied the banner above the registration table (from the mobile home awning) so we had ! our official sign on display!
It was great to see FRAC members from out of town - Joy Bishop (Nederland) running Keen, while Quigley and Tom relaxed (did I miss Quigley running?); several Fort Collins members - Paul Hulbert running Spirit, their lead dog for the dog sled racing team they run in winter; Martie and Ray Faulk running Emma (wow did she do great!) and Molly, respectively; Brenda Woodmansee and Cindy Freeman running 3 shelties between them (spanning compact, mid, and full-size models!); and Carol Coffey running 1 (or both) of her corgis, plus recording us on her new digital camera! Hope I didn't forget anyone. Melanie's well-planned Boulder fun match in April deserved weather as good so it could have offered a whole day of fun agility.
Thanks again to all the club members and extra volunteers who were dependable and generous helpers throughout the event, got us picked up and the trailer loaded in just over a 1/2 hour, and then helped finish off the ice cream!
And here are some pictures (sorry, but your webmaster lost the name of the person that sent these pictures!)...
